I think that if you were to make a collage of Maricarla’s everchanging hairstyle, look no further than the Givenchy campaign archive. From her luscious raven hair to her sudden albino-esqu hairstyle to her Rosemary’s Baby crop, Givenchy’s campaigns are the perfect illustration of Maricarla’s rapid change and chameleon-esque qualities that still makes her a favorite amongst photographers. It’s safe to say that every season, Maricarla is sure to have booked a campaign, since you know, her best friend is the designer for the legendary house of Givenchy.
Georgia May Jagger
I think Christmas came early this year, with the release, or leakage (if one wants to put it that way), of the winter issues of i-D. I for one, have never bought i-D before, but I guess this issue will be my first purchase of this magazine. I absolutely adore Georgia’s cover, because it’s so pure and virginal and so unlike her Hudson Jeans campaign we are all accustomed to. The supers of course are fabulous. The only dissappointment: Lara Stone! The shot isn’t doing anything for her.
Anyways, I’ll be burning 18+ bucks when this issue reaches our shores. And sometime ago, my friend stumbled upon this treasure island of a shop that sells vintage (circa 06-07) Vogue Italia and AMICA and V. Granted they’re not vintage-vintage, but I think it’s still a great find. Imagine the prices ranging from 4 to 10 bucks, down from 40+ bucks! I felt like I was a kid in a candy shop.
On another happy note, a group of 5 of my friends and me are throwing a huge-ass Christmas party for all our immediate friends! And of course, I had to suggest the theme of “Tiffany & Co.”. So we’ll be having a very white and blue Christmas:) I’m gonna make this a total fashion bash, and no one is allowed to wear casual tees! Come to think of it, this party is gonna be a closure to a fantastic year in college.
I’d like to think of myself as a romantic, although quite frankly, there’s no one for me to share the romance with. But enough about me and more about what I’m about to post. Fashion photographs shot in nature, that exudes romanticism, always gets to me, because I love the serenity of the surroundings, although quite ironically, I hate being in nature. So, I do appreciate tulles and babydoll dresses that are juxtaposed against Mother Nature’s rustic charms. That is why I absolutely adore this image:
This is actually a campaign for a local label, and of course, I would never have found out about such a wonderful collection and campaign if it weren’t for Ashburn Eng, who’s the creative force behind this campaign, and his site. So, I shall just leave you at that, and you MUST proceed to his site to view the rest of the campaign and also all his other wonderful works.
P.S: I think it’s much better than Stella-Mccartney’s-Bambi-Influenced-Sigrid-Starred-Campaign
I’m here to say that I’m not dead, not the least bit, although I was the moment I got my report slip from the college. But all is well and I’m back. So, anybody up for some music from Lady Gaga? I went for her concert in August and she was awesome, so I thought I’d check up on her new music video and guess what I’d found?
It’s those gargantuan Mcqueen S/S 2010 heels that made headlines for being 12 inches high! There’s also another heel from the video which I can’t point my finger at, but I’m sure it’s from the latest collections from someone.
P.S: Don’t judge just because they’re from Perez!
There are certain gorgeous girls in the modelling industry, and then there are the few GORGEOUS ones. Emily Didonato, in my humble opinion, falls into the latter category. She’s 18 and already has that Maybelline contract. When I saw her on the advertisment, I was like who? Then rockthetrend.com talked about her a bit a while back, and I only had the time to check out her thread now. Pretty good for a newbie, with Guess, La Senza, Express and Ralph Lauren Rugby line campaigns under her belt.
I do like her, and find her amazingly beautiful and sexy, and she will be my favourite commercial model. But there is only a slight chance of her crossing into high fashion, and be that coveted model, because to me, her face doesn’t suit high fashion. Her editorial for The Block, although beautiful, was a bit one dimensional and flat. Maybelline has made her into the second Adriana, who of course left after being offered the VS beauty contract. And then there’s the curse of Victoria’s Secret. She’s working for them, and is looking more like Adriana with every shot.
Now, I am realy convinced that she’s the new Adriana, while the original one takes a break and cares for her baby. She is a Givenchy exclusive. Adriana was a Givenchy exclusive last year. It seems that Givenchy likes having exclusives, but after that, the models aren’t associated with the brand anymore.
It’s a real pity isn’t it. My subscription for Time is for 2 years, and I was hoping to collect their style issues. So far, I’ve only got one with Arlenis on the cover. But the sadder thing is, only 1 person from this department was absorbed into the parent publication, whilst all the rest were let go.
Quite possibly a new model that I’ve taken a liking for, and her name is Manon Pieto. She’s representing France for Elite Model Look, and her chances are pretty good, considering Elite Model Look usually have winners from the European region, and France’s track record in the competition is pretty solid. She’s pretty and all, but one thing about her is that she’s kind of bordering into the commercial side, which recent shots of her in magazines are showing. Not a good thing…
Now, this is Lanvin S/S 2010, and the model is Kelly Morera. Here is where things get interesting. Kelly actually lost Elite Model Look to none other than Manon. Whilst Kelly is free to start a career, Manon, due to contractual obligations I should think, would have to wait until the finale of the competition is over. One thing to note: Revenge is best served on a silver platter, or in this case, a Lanvin booking.
